This "Backstreet Beijing" Walking Tour will take you to the magnificent palace complex of the Shrines of Emperors of all Dynasties to learn all about the 5,000 years of legendary and historical Chinese emperors, and the ancestral worship and sacrifices; Yuan-Dynasty White Dagoba (Kublai Khan's period) (Tibetan and Mongol Buddhism); visiting writer Lu Xun's Former Residence and Museum. (Lu Xun is the most famous Contemporary Chinese literature figure, nicknamed the soul of Chinese scholars). Then stroll around in the peaceful hutongs and neighborhood, ending up with a bustling pet market.
