New lectures
this week

American scholar Claire Conceison is visiting Beijing recently. CCC takes this opportunity to invite her to give a talk at CCC this Wednesday evening (March 11) about Ying Ruocheng, a famous Chinese actor and politican.

Ying is best known in the West for his roles in the films The Last Emperor and Little Buddha, and for his collaboration with Arthur Miller in 1983 to stage Death of a Salesman in Beijing. His newly published autobiography, Voices Carry: Behind Bars and Backstage during China¡¯s Revolution and Reform, includes his remarkable career in theatre and film, as well as his work as China' s vice minister of culture during the rapid reform period of 1986-1990, including the events of spring 1989. 

Another American speaker Elyn MacInnis is also visiting Beijing for a week. She is M.Div. Harvard University, teacher and trainer, has had 21 years of experience in China. She has taught Cultural Differences for various Chinese English programs on CCTV since 1996.

Elyn will lead a workshop on Breathing and Meditation Techniques to Lower Stress (Monday, March 9, 19:30-21:00; and repeat: Tuesday, March 10, 13:00-14:30)

Ely will also give talks and lead discussions on "Cultural Differences East and West" (Thursday, March 12, 19:30-21:30).
