Hangzhou

Hangzhou Overview

  • With its picturesque West Lake, the surrounding gardens and temples, many tea houses and interesting museums, it still seems reasonable that once Marco Polo claimed Hangzhou as one of the most splendid cities of the world. It is the capital of Zhejiang province and its political, economic and cultural center. Undoubtedly the most renowned and impressing feature of Hangzhou is the beautiful West Lake with its small islands and its surrounding. You can enjoy beautiful gardens, pagodas and temples and drive to one of the islands to see the famous “Three Pools Mirroring the Moon”.

What to see

  • The Linyin Temple is one of the most ancient Buddhist temples in China. From former 9 towers, 18 pavilions and 75 halls it now has the Celestial Kings Hall and the Main Buddha Hall left, which are impressive enough. Next to the temple stands the Feilai Peak, it is 167 meters long and has many mysterious rocks and limestone caves with 380 different stone sculptures.
