If you climb one mountain in China, let it be Huangshan ! With its 72 peaks, it is considered one of the most unique and beautiful mountain ranges in the world and it is the only mountain listed in China's Top Ten Scenic Spots. Then you will visit the well-preserved ancient villages and architecture near the mountains located in the south of Anhui province. the houses and water system were used as part of the scene in the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

What to see



Yellow Mountain

Huangshan, known as 'the loveliest mountain of China', was acclaimed through art and literature during a good part of Chinese history (e.g. the Shanshui 'mountain and water' style of the mid-16th century). Today it holds the same fascination for visitors, poets, painters and photographers who come on pilgrimage to the site, which is renowned for its magnificent scenery made up of many granite peaks and rocks emerging out of a sea of clouds.

Yellow Mountains are very foggy sometimes because of the rain and clouds, so you are not guaranteed seeing beautiful scenes any dates you get on the top of the mountain,  even though you spend two nights on the summit just expecting that.



Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui near Mount Huangshan are preserved to a remarkable extent the appearance of non-urban settlements of a type that largely disappeared or was transformed during the last century. Their street plan, their architecture and decoration, and the integration of houses with comprehensive water systems are unique surviving examples.

Four features of Huangshan Scenery: Sea of clouds, strangely shaped rocks, unusual pine trees, and bubbling hot springs.

Spring and Autumn. The off peak season is only between Dec.1 to February. One of the most popular destination in China, it also sees frequent governmental and corporate conferences and seminars being held there, making Yellow Mountain an relatively expensive place to visit. Food and hotel price on the summit is triple the usual price. Book your hotel early enough.

Suggested Itinerary

If you have two days plus one evening

Day 1: Evening flight to Huangshan City

• Beijing departure: Beijing - Huangshan by air 18:50-20:50;
• Shanghai departure: Shanghai Hongqiao - Huangshan FM9267   14:20-15:25  
• Other locales: we welcome those to join us from other locales and meet us in Huangshan.
• Transfer from the airport to Hongcun Village and check in a 4-star hotel.

Day 2: Hongcun Village / Yellow Mountain

• Wake up in the morning in one of the most beautiful village in China - Hongcun.
  Hongcun is an UNESCO-listed site which is well known for the design and shape of the village associated with fengshui (Chinese geomancy), and was served as shooting site for the Oscar award-winning film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".
• After lunch, drive to the yellow Mountain and enjoy the vast and magic scenery on Huangshan and stay overnight in a 4-star hotel on the summit.

Day 3:  Ancient Villages / Fly out

• Get up early to see the sunrise, and hike some other parts of the scenery in the mountain\
• Take a cable car down the mountain to visit an ancient street in the center of Huangshan city
• Have dinner in a Anhui flavour restaurant before departing for airport. 
  Huangshan - Beijing (arrival around 11-12pm)
  Huangshan - Shanghai Pudong (arrival around 11-12pm)
  
  Note:
  1. There will be quite some climbing up and down the mountain (along steps) in order to enjoy dreamy views from different perspectives, even though you ride cable car to the top. Of course you can skip some climbing in the itinerary and only do the best part.
  2. Please bring smaller and lighter baggage if you don't feel good to have porters to carry it up by foot from cable car station to the summit hotel.

If you have 3 days plus one evening

Day 1: Evening flight to  Arrive Huangshan City in Anhui

• Drive to Yi County, visit Xidi Village
• Stay overnight in a boutique hotel in Yi County countryside.

Day 2 – Yi County (Hongcun, Mukeng and Huangcun)

• Tour around Xidi Village, then visit Hongcun village and hike to Mukeng Bamboo Village.
• Visit Huangcun Village, and ride bike around the lake and field in the countryside. You may see farmers’ working in the field at right season. Optionally, take some walk in the nearby villages.
• Stay overnight in a boutique hotel in Yi County countryside.

Day 3 – Yellow Mountain (Huangshan):

• Hike 5-6 hours (or take a cable car and hike 1-2 hours) to summit of Yellow Mountain.
• Hike along the steps to view some famous scenic spots of the mountain.
• Enjoy sunset and stay overnight on summit (the best 4-star hotel available)

Day 4 – Yellow Mountain - Wan’an:

• View sunrise at Shizifeng (Lion Peak); take a cable car down mountain;
• Visit Chengkan Village, walk on the Wan An Ancient Street or visit a Brush and Ink Factory. 
• Transfer to airport and fly out.
